I'm into holistic health, and adaptogenic herbs, superfoods; I drink tons of herbal tea/mixtures, and recently, I noticed that for the first time in my 2 short years or so of training, I have been able to workout 3 days/wk without any deloading.
I've been doing this for 7 weeks, and have noticed a 4'' increase in VJ, in the first 4 weeks, but then it declined back to where it was before after some terrible intermittent fasting (I did 18 hour + fasts, leangains.blogspot.com recommends 16, and has great rep).
Anyway, I'm been going quite strong taking Maca powder, Tulsi tea, turmeric everyday (i have gyno actually so turmeric may help a little), triple leaf brand teas (blood pressure tea is excellent T booster), bee pollen, spirulina, carbs come from fruit only, and vegetables.
I just wanted to say how well my recovery has been going. Granted I don't kill myself during my workouts, I stop exercises when my performance drops slightly, so that may be another reason. Still, 7 weeks straight of 3 days a week has a lot to do with proper diet I think. Has anyone else been able to do this without the herbs and foods I'm speaking of? MSM has also helped me greatly, reducing the slight ankle and knee pains I was having before.
I also rarely need a full warmup anymore, (defined as the stuff I used to do during track in high school, took 15-20 minutes) today was the only day in the last 7 weeks I have. My body naturally gets pumped up, and is ready to go, and I haven't had to force myself to workout much (only today, and one other day a few weeks ago). Basically, I'm always ready to go an it feels really good. Keeping up consistent results sucks though when you still have stubborn fat to lose. Basically, I wanted to know if other people have tried adaptogens, and noticed much improved recovery. I took rhodiola a couple years ago, and that definitely helped, now I think Maca is making a big difference as well. _________________ 5'9'' 152 lbs
