So Sunday night before dinner I weighed myself. I was 216.2 lbs. The next morning I lost 6 lbs. Which means that the 30 minute walk I went on is working for my fat loss. I went on another walk and lost another pound.

At this rate, I'll reach my goals in a week. In a month, I may weigh zero pounds. Man i'm awesome.

I went to the gym today and squatted. 3x10. Getting harder, Next week with +10lbs will definately challenge me. Hopefully my body will catch up to this extra work im doing.

Great stuff man, keep it up !!

Losing weight while walking is the best ! But at some point, it will stop give you any significant results (still it would be better than nothing !). Then it might be the time to introduce some light jogging, or even better, some interval training (works really good for fat loss).

But until then, keep walking !!

So I used the trap bar to do some DL's yesterday and because this one has a raised handle, it worked wonders for me. I've never been able to get into a standard DL position properly and have always given up trying to work on it. At least with the trap bar, i'll be doing some deadlifts, even if theyre reduced ROM.

Weight felt pretty easy but of course i'll stick to my 10lb a week increases.

Usually on saturday I stay home all day long watching tv or something, but I was real happy today that I got to get outside and go to the gym.

We went to see the USS Missouri because admission was free today, that was pretty sweet. Then I dropped off my wife at burger king so she could read while I zipped to the gym.

Today I started with my novice plyos then went into my workout. I did some power cleans for the first time in over 2 years. I ended up working to a 3x3 with 95 lbs. It felt pretty easy but as I know with Pcleans, once you hit a certain weight it automatically fails. No muscling through it!

Finished with some lighter upper body. I've never tried 4x a week going to the gym, but I know that 3x a week gets me good consistant gains. I'm pretty happy if I can make this regular.

Yes, interval jump-roping or sprints, complexes, Prowler, etc will do it.
Also, Steve Reeves was big on power walking, which is fast paced walking with wts. on ankles, around the hips/chest and back, hands. I hear it's awesome. I've yet to try it.

Keep up the great work, J.
But until then, keep walking !!

Thanks guys.

I did a short interval session on a bike after my workout on thursday. I did the one Alwyn Cosgrove suggests where his clients fail to lose weight when they add it in once or twice a week. Basically its 2 minutes of moderate intensity with 1 minute of as much as you can, repeat 3 times. Only takes 9 minutes!

Ironically I haven't went on a walk since last monday. Because of my slacking I have now regained 2 lbs. All hope is lost.

I stayed at work an hour and a half later and it was raining so I ended up going to the gym by myself instead of with my wife. I used that as an excuse not to do as many exercises today. I also used sunday's hike as an excuse not to do 10 reps, but to do 8. Oh well.

I upped the weight by 20lbs since last tuesday. To be honest I probably could have finished those 2 extra reps on each set and it woulda be fine. I tried doing some dips and I was shaking so much with weakness. Had to do assisted. Oh well.

Hopefully I can keep the reps high, then when I get to 225 at 8 or 10 reps ill be stronger.

Guess what suckers? I went for a walk today! Sweet. Since it's been around a week since my last walk, I have a feeling this one will lose me a good amount of weight.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Not to be outdone by my squats, I added 20lbs to the trap bar this week instead of 10. Still felt pretty easy (3x8 205lbs). It should be easy since I was squatting 275 before, But I guess that's a little skewed since the trap bar is obviously easier than a straight bar. Oh well, I feel confident in lifting the trap bar without hurting myself so I'll stick at it. The main point is that i'm deadlifting.

I seriously have to play some basketball at least once a week. It won't do any good to lift weights to increase my athletic ability if I do no athletic activity.

At least volleyball season is starting in a couple of weeks... although we have 16 people on our team this year instead of 7. Wonder if I'll still get to play as much.

Edit:

Oh yeah, I forgot to talk about some of the awesome workout people that were in the gym today. Well, first of all was the Giant Gangster Headphone Wearing Guy (GGHWG) who was on the platform for like 25 minutes. He was doing team T-bar rows with his neck cranked to one side so he could see how big his headphones were. Oh yeah, after they finished, they left the bar with 45's on, 35's, 25', 10's and 2 towels all over the place.

The other guy was He-Roar the Barbarian Pedophile. This guy is stronger than me and bigger than me, and he makes sure everyone in the gym knows it by grunting and roaring when he's benching.... 135lbs!!! Oh, but it's not just bench, everything needs a monstrous battle cry to show how strong he is. Why is he a pedophile? Cause he's got this tiny little thin mustache.... and he's only twenty something.

Went on a hardcore walk today. I started up early since my wife went to use the bathroom and I kept a strong pace. She eventually caught up to me by walking fast and doing some running (all up hill).

At the top I kept up my pace and walked as fast as I could without running. She's still faster than me, but thats cause she's 90lbs lighter. Anyways, it was a crazy race and in the end my legs almost exploded.

If I keep this up, in a few weeks i'll be able to run some of this monster hill.

Did vjb novice plyos then trained. My power cleans at 105lbs are pretty sad. Of course i'm not maxing out, so hopefully I can add 10lbs a week till at least 135-145.

Everything else was upper body. Gym was almost deserted today, but I did see a guy squatting in his bare feet. That was pretty sweet, said he doesn't get in trouble as long as it's only in the squat rack. I might try it out some day.

Doing our plyos was pretty fun. After next week we're gonna mix it up and throw in some 1 leg tripple jump and short sprints, we had a lot of fun fooling around with those today (my wife and I that is).

I went for a walk today. Did a couple of short runs of 30-60 seconds on my forefeet. Definately felt different. I hope i'm not too tired to squat tomorrow!!

A friend of mine is gonna come to the gym with me. He's trying to increase his strength and power and is on the right track so far. Hopefully I can help him (he's already ridiculously beastly). I'm REALLY hoping that we can train together all the time and i'll have a partner that can really help me raise the intensity.

My friend came to the gym today and it was fun. He followed me and did exactly my workout which wasn't too far off his own.

So we both hit 3x8 of 195lbs, not too much trouble there. Did some 1L RDLs and some rowing.

I think he's way stronger than me. Definately more explosive.

I'm continuing to add 10lbs to my squat with 3x8. I'm thinking next week I'll hit 205 for 3x8 and then following that switch it to a 5x5 but continue to add 10lbs a week. Hopefully I can get around a 255 or 265 for 5x5, that will mean I am a lot stronger than before where a 1x5 of 260 was hard

Edit: Stupid me, switching it up next week would be the perfect time to go into phase II of VJB! I've been deadlifting/squatting for 3 weeks now so I might as well give it a shot! (I've never done a VJB program since late 2006).

Edit(2): Wow i just looked at the phase II of novice weights... That's a lot of volume. 3x8 right now is pretty tiring, but to do 4x8.... hmm. Maybe I'll stick with 3x8 but do the rest of phase II.

Ok so I got sick so I had to skip wednesday's walk, thursdays workout, friday's walk, but today I went to the gym and met my friend.

I didn't do my full novice plyo workout since i'm still sick, but I did enough of the hops to get a little fatigued. Then worked on power cleans. I'm happy that I added 10 lbs from last week up to 115lbs, but I'm a little afraid I might be getting close to doing them easily. Oh well, if I can keep my form ok i'll just have to work harder!

Afterwards I did my deadlifts, adding 10 lbs to 215lbs. 3x8. It was pretty easy. I'm happy that I still easily added the weight even though I'm sick. Finished with a couple chinups and negatives on pullups. Then some abs.

So for this week I have sucessfully reached my goals on the major lifts. Next week shouldn't be too bad as my cold is not making me feel too terrible, just lots of mucus.

Went on a walk today. I live in the middle of a golf course and they had a tournament today so we went to go walk around the course and watch some. It was nice.

I'm really really missing my taekwondo school. I'm thinking of going back for at least the sparring days. I love kicking people but i'm not sure if it's worth the risk of hitting an elbow and having my foot swell. I'll just have to hit them in the face where it's soft.
